STARTING A NETWORK

Confused on where to start? What's the basic essential things I need? Don't worry, we got you covered.

Here's the most important things you need:

  • The point of a router is to allow multiple computers, tablets and smartphones to join the same network.
  • A server is the main computer that gives out and manages information given to other computers.
  • A hub is the connection point for the devices that are connected to a network.
  • A network cables are used to connect one device to another network device.
  • A patch panel is used to connect circuits.
  • A docking station is a device that allows portable computers (i.e. laptops) to connect with other devices very efficiently.
  • A repeater is a device used for networking that is used to "regenerate" or clone signals that are weaken by long distances.

Different Ways to Set Up a Network Typology:

For small networks, a bus or line topology is the way to go because handling but, because it's small the length of the cable is limited.

This network is very organized and has reduction on the amount of collision and every computer has an equal amount of access to information. If there is a network fail it will effect the whole system's performance.
Transmits data from one node to multiple nodes efficiently.  Overlapping of connection tends to happen, which defeats the purpose of the topology.

Isolation/ privacy is a benefit for this network topology. If the central hub breaks down, then the entire system is affected
If ever looking for expansion of the network, it is possible. Easily maintenance, because everything is broken down. Having it all to rely on on the main cable, if broken down the entire system goes down.
